CHAPTER Four

“Laura, your phone is ringing.” Jason gently pushed the hair from forehead. “Wake up, sleepy head.”

I lifted my head and groaned. “I don’t want to get up.” I mumbled. My phone stopped ringing and I dropped my head back on to his chest. Mmm. It was a delicious chest. My hands traced the outline of his muscles as he chuckled. The phone pinged a text.

“It could be Liv.” He said quietly.

I raised my head and opened one eye, “You don’t play fair.” I rolled off him and grabbed my robe before searching the house for my errant phone. It was, I think, near the couch. I found it and checked a missed call from Scooter, and a text reminding me about the barbecue.

“Crap.” I muttered.

“What’s wrong,” Jason asked. I turned and his head was leaning against the palm of his hand, his elbow on the wall. He looked like a freakin’ model. My mouth went dry. He grinned at my reaction, raised his eyebrow and then did a body builder pose.

I laughed, “I forgot there’s a barbecue today I’m supposed to go to.” His face fell slightly and I hoped it was because he wanted to spend the day with me too. I looked up shyly, “Do you want to come with me?”

“Yeah. Definitely. Come on, we can try the shower next.” He waggled his eyebrows and I just giggled.

He was as talented in the shower as he was in the tub.

He took out his eyebrow piercing and brushed his messy hair.

“That’s it?” I asked, “That is your big disguise?”

He laughed, “Hey, Clark Kent just had glasses.”

“Yeah, sure, whatever.” I muttered.

We showed up to the barbecue a little late, but before Liv and Aidan. I figured Jason would be relieved that he would know at least one person there. I pointed out Liv’s house to Jason as we drove by. He recognized Aidan’s car in the driveway. I just rolled my eyes and he laughed at my reaction.

No one seemed to recognize Jason at the party, and he fit in great with the guys. He was attentive, grabbing me a bottle of water to keep me hydrated, and staying beside me while I talked to the guys. I found out Carlos was planning on moving Olivia to the burn unit. We tried to brainstorm on ways to stop him. Scooter promised to tell Olivia before it happened, and I knew she had a backup plan at the Valley. When Olivia and Aidan finally arrived I smirked at the look of surprise on her face.

Aidan calmly held out his hand, greeting Jason, which ticked Neal off, a third year resident off who had spent the last twenty minutes trying to figure out where we met, because he was sure he knew Jason from somewhere.

As soon as she could Olivia started pumping me for information. I tried to head it off by asking her how Aidan handled her dropping the “Love” bomb on the phone last night.

Liv bit her lip, “He wants me to help him go house hunting.
